Hidaya Islamic Book Store will donate a portion of the proceeds to a Rohingya school in Malaysia.

The Rohingya are a group of people who live mainly in the Rakhine State in western Myanmar. Most of them follow Islam.

In Myanmar, the 1982 Nationality Law revoked the  citizenship and civil rights of the Rohingya. Since the 1990s, the military led a series of persecutions that led to the exodus of Rohingya from the country. In 2012 and 2017, massive and deadly sweeps resulted in the continuous displacement of more than two million Rohingya.

The largest Rohingya refugee destination is neighboring Bangladesh, with over 1 million. Others live in countries like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and in Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia.

Rohingya refugees do not have access to education in public schools, and a large number of children are engaged in child labor. Educational opportunities are limited to private schools run by Rohingya teachers and  Malaysian NGOs.
